SURVIVING & SERVING THROUGH WINTER STORM URI
On February 13, no Texan could have predicted what transpired. Winter Storm Uri hit almost the entire state of Texas leaving close to 4.5 million homes and businesses without power at its peak, killing more than a hundred people while producing an estimated $295 billion in damage.
More than 69% of Texans lost electricity at some point during the storm which lasted for an average of 42 hours, while roughly 49% lost access to running water for an average of two or more days, according to Hobby School of Public Affairs at the University of Houston. Nearly one-third of people reported water damage in their home.
We received hundreds of calls for service during that time for properties all across Houston, Austin, and Dallas. Property managers were scrambling to take care of their residents the best they could while ERCOT and utility companies were figuring things out. One of our major clients and partners here in the heart of Houston went above and beyond. Camden Property Trust went above and beyond to take care of their residents. Their corporate management team reached out to us to service every single one of their properties that was facing outages with food truck services as long as needed, where they would be paying for all meals served.
During this tough time, we at the Mobile Service Co. were extremely proud and honored to serve over 10,000 residents and staff members over this great state in partnership with Camden!
Our Food Truck service partners went above and beyond to serve despite all of the challenges with food supply, electricity, limited mobility, freezing roads, and so much more!
When it's time to come through for their residents, Camden doesn’t only say, but rather shows through their actions how much they truly care! They paid for every meal that was served!
